CRO (Conversion Rate Optimisation) is the process of making adjustments to your websites, based on data in order to improve your conversion rate.
Conversion Rate Optimisation works hand-in-hand with SEO to ensure that the traffic you bring into your website (through SEO, PPC & other avenues) converts. What’s the point in having high traffic volume if it’s not going to bring in more business?
Our CRO team uses a variety of technologies and software to ensure your site is in the very best position to convert your traffic. So whether your site is an e-commerce site, or a small brochure website. CRO can help you ensure that no traffic potential is wasted.
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) put most simply is the process of improving a websites ranking for any given keyword or phrase within a Search Engine’s (such as Google, Bing or Yahoo) results page.
However, in 2020 it’s means much more than that. SEO incorporates a variety of elements and techniques to ensure your site lives up to it’s full potential.
Google’s algorithms are advanced, no longer can the search engine be tricked by bombarding your site with weak links created on ‘link-farms’. SEO requires serious thought, planning and execution. Google and other Search Engines focus on user experience above anything else, so if your website is outdated, and outmoded it’s unlikely to get much attention from the Search Engine. Our SEO experts will analyse your site, looking a number of things, such as the general usability of your website, site structure & navigation, existing backlink profile, website content, keyword targeting and much more.
A backlink is any external link that links into your website. There are a number of types of backlinks including: editorial, PR, advert, social and citation/directory. All have their own merits, and some are more valuable than others. Ultimately a strong backlink profile should have a wide variety of backlinks from a wide variety of different sources. You can read more about backlinks here.
Citations are mentions of your NAP (Name, Address, Phone Number) external to your site. These could be listings on review sites, directories, or things like Google Business and Social Media sites such as Facebook and Linkedin.
Google. Google is the largest search engine in the world and in the UK has over 92% of the search engine market share, followed by bing with 4.4%. It’s always best to base your SEO campaign on Google as your primary search engine, other search engines tend to follow similar rules to Google and often use the similar algorithms to rank websites within their search results.
SERP stands for Search Engine Results Page and is the page on which search results are displayed on Search Engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing etc.
PPC stands for Pay Per Click and is the process of paying for website traffic. It can be through a number of sources such as Google Adwords, Bing Ads, Facebook Ads, Linkedin Ads etc.
‘Black Hat’ SEO is a term we use to describe practices that could be considered manipulating by search engines. This includes: keyword stuffing content, hiding keywords within the page source code, producing low-quality backlinks from low-value sources on volume. Although this practice can still yield fast and effective results, you can also risk de-indexing & bans from major search engines. This practice should be avoided at all costs
‘White Hat’ SEO is a term we use to describe practices that search engines consider essential & organic. Although results can be harder to achieve, it often yields lasting results and healthy conversions.
Nobody quite knows exactly what algorithm (or combination of algorithms) Google uses to determine how a website ranks. But what we do know is there are well over 200 different contributing factors that are taken into account. Google regularly updates their algorithm and more recently has announced when these updates are coming. Some of the biggest algorithm updates over the past 10 years have been Panda, Penguin, Hummingbird, ‘Mobilegeddon’ and most recently BERT.
A Meta Title is an important piece of text that sits in the header of every page. Meta Titles are used by Google’s algorithm when determining what the page is about. You can set your Meta Title manually through a simple piece of code, and it has a direct influence over how you may or may not be ranked within the search engines. Best practice is to keep Meta Titles between 50-60 characters to avoid truncation.
Much like Meta Titles, a Meta Description is a piece of text that is added to the header of your page to give users an snippet of what the page is about. It is displayed directly within the SERP. However, Meta Descriptions do not directly influence how Google ranks your webpage. Although they are still important as a good Meta Description can influence how users interact with your SERP listing, and a good CTR will inderectly help improve your visibility in the SERP.
CTR stands for Click Through Rate. It is the number of users that actually click through to your webpage. It is often measured against an impression, which is the number of users that may see your result in the listing but may not actually visit your webpage.
Domain Authority is a number out of 100 that was created by industry leader Moz. It takes into account a variety of factors including: Domain Age, Number of Backlinks, number of linking root domains etc. It is often a good indicator of how well your website will rank in the SERP. Websites with a higher DA will almost always rank higher than those with a lower DA.
